Most of us have a bottle of honey lying around at home, without really knowing how magical and great a substance it is. While the health benefits of honey are widely talked about, did you know that honey is also amazing for your skin? Yes it is! Honey has an unending supply of antioxidants and vitamins, and is a great natural nourisher for the skin.
The honey-skin love story
Many skincare companies use honey as one of their main ingredients. But why use products that have honey but also a ton of other chemical additives, when you can experience the goodness of honey on your skin in the purest form possible? The reason why honey is so good for the skin is because of its humectant properties; it can draw in moisture and help your skin retain its natural moisture. This combined with honey’s antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, gives you soft, clean skin. The enzymes present in honey enables it to easily seep into the skin, while conditioning and softening it from deep within. Honey is also a good hydrating agent. Whether you choose to apply honey directly in its raw form, or make a face pack out of it, it is still one of the best ways of keeping your skin fresh, hydrated and supple!
You can make a honey face mask with various other things – mashed bananas, yogurt or pureed apples. But if all that seems like too much work, you can always go for straight-up pure honey! Believe us, it’s an amazingly simple skincare routine to follow.
Take a spoon of Safa honey and apply it on your face and neck for about 15-20 minutes (your skin should be clean and dry). Rinse with lukewarm to cool water. Voila, feel the difference!
